The Disciple Making Movements we are involved in are acts of God. We are totally aware of the reality of what Jesus said in John 15:5, “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” With that in mind, abundant prayer is the foundation of all we do. So, we cover our work in prayer.
We also look to Jesus as an example, who prayed fervently throughout His ministry on earth. His prayer life was so on point and so dedicated that His disciples approached Him asking for teaching on how to pray. If Jesus gave this much value to prayer, we need to as well.
There are three reasons why prayer is so crucial to our ministry. First, it aligns us with God’s plan. He directs the people, the timing, the purpose, and reasoning. We need to be in sync with that plan rather than being tugged in a different direction. Second, it is our main tool in fighting spiritual warfare. We are on the frontlines of mission work, and prayer is the greatest weapon we can utilize to accomplish what the enemy hopes to destroy. Third, it provides communication and direction from God. We are able to hear from Him and act.
