BE MOVED: EPISODE 6

Unleashing God’s Word

Scripture Focus

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” —James 1:22 (ESV)

Reflection

Jesus was a master at asking questions. Did you know He asked 307 questions throughout the Gospels? While others asked Him 183, He only directly answered 3. This approach of engaging with questions rather than providing direct answers empowered those around Him to discover the truth themselves.

The Discovery Bible Study method follows this example, fostering an environment where everyone is invited to explore questions, discover the answers in God’s Word, and hold each other accountable to respond in obedience.

This method is powerful because it’s simple and reproducible. Anyone can lead a Discovery Bible Study, and anyone can participate, regardless of their background or level of biblical knowledge.

It’s this simplicity that makes it so effective in multiplying disciples and spreading the Gospel. As you engage with Scripture in this way, you’re not just learning about God’s Word. You’re living it out and inviting others to do the same.

The Discovery Bible Study method can transform the way you interact with God’s Word and inspire those around you. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about being open to the journey of discovery and letting God’s Word speak directly into your life.

Questions for Personal Growth

  • Can you recall a time when you discovered something profound in Scripture for yourself? How did that experience impact you?
  • How can you incorporate the Discovery Bible Study method into your own life or ministry to encourage others to engage with God’s Word?

Action Step

This week, use this simple guide to start a discovery group with friends or family. While the process is straightforward, when practiced consistently, it will lead to personal discovery, immediate obedience, and regular sharing — which ultimately results in multiplication.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Word and for the way it speaks directly to our hearts. Help me to approach Scripture with a spirit of discovery, eager to learn and obey what You reveal. Guide me as I lead others in this process, and may our time in Your Word be fruitful, leading to real transformation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
