A VILLAGE IN SOUTH ASIA, A BIBLE STUDY, AND A GOSPEL RIPPLE STILL SPREADING—THANKS TO YOU
A new year always invites us to look back with gratitude and look ahead with expectation. But in one quiet corner of South Asia, the future is already taking shape in ways only God could design. And through your prayers and generosity, you’re part of the story.
It began on an ordinary prayer walk through a rural community, just one of thousands across South Asia where churches are few, spiritual hunger runs deep, and the name of Jesus is still unfamiliar.
As one of our local leaders walked and prayed, he noticed a man outside his home who was visibly distressed and weighed down by what his family believed were dark spiritual forces. We’ll call him Sanjay.
Sensing the Spirit’s leading, the disciple-maker stopped to pray. And when he did, something shifted. For the first time in months, Sanjay felt relief. His family saw the immediate change, and their gratitude opened a door no strategy could have forced open.
They invited the leader back the next day, and before long, a small group began gathering in their home to hear simple stories from Scripture. These weren’t sermons, they were quiet, relational times of listening, asking questions, and discovering who God is in their own language.
We call this a Discovery Bible Study, which is a simple process that helps people encounter God’s Word for themselves and respond in obedience. God is using Discovery Bible Studies all around the world to launch Gospel movements—which is what you support as a friend of New Generations!
As Sanjay listened, peace replaced fear, curiosity grew into conviction, and within days, he and his entire household chose to follow Jesus. Several neighbors joined them, and all were baptized. But God wasn’t done.
Not long after, Sanjay visited a nearby settlement. There he met a woman who had endured years of chronic stomach pain. When she heard how God had healed and freed him, she asked him to pray for her too. Then she did something unexpected: she invited him to start one of these discovery groups right in her home. And she didn’t keep it quiet.
She invited her neighbors. They invited more neighbors. Soon her small home overflowed with people eager to hear Scripture and understand it for themselves.
What happened next reveals the beauty of simple obedience multiplied in God’s hands:
Across that region of South Asia, 436 new discovery groups formed in a single quarter. Each one meeting in a home. Each one opening the Bible with humility and hunger. Each one sharing what they learned with others. And your faithfulness helped make it possible.
Your prayers created space for the Spirit to lead. Your generosity equipped local believers with Scripture, training, and encouragement. Your partnership helped open doors in communities where the Gospel is still new and hope can feel far away.
This is how God’s Word spreads in the hardest places: one ordinary home, one willing heart, one step of discovery at a time. So as you step into a new year, we hope you see your impact reflected in this story. The ripple that began in one hidden village is still spreading across households, across communities, and across the wider region of South Asia.
Thank you for helping ignite discovery where the Gospel has rarely been heard. The year ahead is full of possibility, and God is already using you in ways that reach farther than you may ever see.
DISCOVERY BIBLE STUDIES ARE IGNITING GOSPEL MOVEMENTS HERE AT HOME TOO
When people think about Gospel movements, they often imagine faraway places. But some of the most surprising stories of transformation are unfolding right here in North America through simple Discovery Bible Studies.
And through your prayers and generosity, you’re helping these stories begin.
A WILDFIRE THAT AWAKENED A COMMUNITY
On a Native American reservation in the southwest US, a woman we’ll call Ruth had been growing through a Discovery Bible Study. She’d learned to read, learned to pray, and learned to trust the God who hears her.
Her husband Daniel often joined her. He listened and prayed, but surrender still felt distant.
Then a fast-moving brush fire raced toward their homes. As fear spread, Ruth prayed a simple prayer: “God, please turn the wind.”
Before she finished speaking, the wind shifted, the fire turned, and their community was spared. Daniel could hardly speak. “God hears us. But we don’t listen to Him,” he said. His words moved through the reservation, and eventually stirred conversations and opened hearts to the Gospel in ways no one expected.
A CHICAGO APARTMENT BECOMES A CHURCH
In Chicago, another story has taken shape. A woman we’ll call Kelsey had recently moved to the city and felt overwhelmed, lonely, and discouraged. When she attended a neighborhood dinner and someone prayed for her, hope flickered.
Kelsey invited the group to visit her home the next week. When they asked if she’d invite a few neighbors for dinner, prayer, and a Bible discussion, she didn’t hesitate. People came. Then more came.
Those moments around Scripture became her lifeline. Soon, Kelsey and the father of her youngest child decided to follow Jesus, chose marriage, and were baptized along with several neighbors.
What started in one apartment has become a small church inside the building. Residents are now hosting their own Discovery Bible Studies, inviting friends, and helping each other take steps toward Jesus.
Your prayers and generosity are helping make stories like these possible. So thank you for helping ignite Gospel movements not only around the world, but right here at home.
HOW OBEDIENCE LEADS TO EVEN GREATER THINGS
By Harry Brown, CEO
When Jesus said to his followers in John 14:12 that they would do “even greater things” than they had been watching Him do, my suspicion is they had no idea what that would look like. There are many dimensions to what “greater things” Jesus had in mind, but for the moment let’s focus on numerical growth.
When the Holy Spirit came in power at Pentecost, 5,000 people joined the family of God. As the narrative in Acts unfolds, the storyline changes from explosive growth in a single location to bursts of new followers of Jesus all over the place.
Examples are Acts 9:31 where it says, “The church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria… continued to increase,” and Acts 16:5 where in the regions surrounding Derbe and Lystra it says, “The churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily.”
The engine driving this growth was obedience. The final command of Jesus was, “Go and make disciples of all the nations… teaching them to obey all that I commanded you” (Acts 28:19-20). If the new disciples obey, then their disciples will repeat the process until it encompasses “all the nations.”
We express the “all nations” theme by saying our mission is to, “Catalyze Disciple Making Movements Everywhere,” and we believe that is at the center of the “even greater things” that Jesus promised His people would accomplish.
A word from ANDY: EVEN GREATER THINGS IN 2026
Dear Friend,
Every time we step into a new year, I’m reminded of something Jesus said in John 14:12. He told His followers that those who believe in Him would do the works He was doing and would do even greater things because He was going to the Father.
I don’t pretend to understand all the depths of that promise. But I do know this. When we look back at what God has done through Disciple Making Movements, and then look ahead at the needs before us, it’s clear that the world is ready for those greater things.
Last year, New Generations celebrated our 20th anniversary. During our global gathering, leaders from across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and North America shared stories that reminded us of the faithfulness of God and the courage of ordinary believers.
Together, we thanked Him for…
- 3.1 million new disciples of Jesus
- 177,000 churches planted
- People from 302 new languages gaining access to Scripture for the first time
These aren’t numbers to admire. They’re milestones that point to the power of the Gospel when it’s released into the hands of everyday followers of Jesus.
But as we begin 2026, the world’s need has never been clearer…
- There are 3.3 billion people alive today who’ve never heard the name of Jesus.
- There are 7.5 million villages without a church.
- There are 3,500 languages without a single verse of Scripture.
This is the world God has called us to serve. And this is the world where Disciple Making Movements continue to take root in places we once thought were unreachable.
One of the most encouraging things I’m seeing is how Discovery Bible Studies are being used by the Spirit to give people direct access to the Word of God. Men and women who’ve never stepped into a church are gathering in homes, listening to Scripture in their own languages, and choosing to obey what they hear.
Those small beginnings are turning into churches. Those churches are multiplying into movements. And those movements are becoming the seeds of even greater things.
So as we step into 2026, our global teams are fasting, praying, and asking God to show us what obedience looks like in this next decade.
We want to see movements catalyzed everywhere. We want to see the Gospel reach deeper into the hardest places. And we want to see new leaders rise who will take the message of Jesus farther than we ever imagined.
I’d like to invite you to pray with us in this new season. Pray for open doors. Pray for receptive hearts. Pray for Scripture to reach people in their heart languages. And pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us as we trust Him for what only He can do.
Thank you for believing with us that Jesus still works through ordinary people who say yes to Him. And thank you for helping carry the Gospel into places where it has never been heard.
The world needs greater things. And by God’s grace, we believe we’ll see them.
In Christ,

Andy Lehmann
