THEY PRAYED—AND BY MORNING, HIS SON WAS HEALED

The atmosphere in the remote village in Cameroon was thick with fear. Community leaders had made it clear: anyone who abandoned ancestral traditions would not survive until morning. Despite this grim warning, a desperate father could no longer ignore the question burning in his heart: “Can Jesus heal my son?”

He approached J.B., a New Generations movement catalyst, who had quietly arrived equipped with only faith and an audio player containing Scripture in the local language.

J.B. didn’t hesitate. His faith filled the gap. And together, J.B. and the father prayed earnestly under flickering lantern light, crying out to Jesus to heal the boy. By morning, the impossible had happened—the son was completely healed.

In that miraculous moment, fear dissolved, and faith took root. The father who once lived gripped by fear, began declaring what Jesus had done. His newfound courage sparked a movement!

He soon began leading Discovery Bible Studies in his home, and invited his neighbors who were previously too afraid even to discuss matters of faith. Today, courage and hope are spreading rapidly, transforming lives throughout the community. Yet this miracle isn’t isolated. Across regions marked by persecution, spiritual oppression, and extreme poverty, God is moving powerfully through prayer.

In another village far away, a witchdoctor’s wife secretly listened to God’s Word on an audio player. When her husband discovered the device, she fled in fear. Yet curiosity led him to press “play”—and he was captivated. Night after night, he absorbed stories of Jesus healing the sick and calming storms with a single word.

Eventually, he invited visitors—people who came seeking spells and sacrifices—to listen with him. He quickly realized no incantation could compare to the authority he heard in those recordings.

Transformed, the witchdoctor renounced his dark practices and gave his life to Christ. He began leading gatherings where neighbors discovered God’s will and experienced the power of prayer. Another entire community, once trapped in fear and superstition, found hope through prayer.

Stories like these aren’t coincidences or isolated incidents—they’re happening with astonishing frequency. And in every single breakthrough, prayer stands at the center—ordinary believers crying out to an extraordinary God. Indeed, as Jesus himself said, “Apart from Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

It turns out that fervent, persistent prayer is the true “air war” empowering the “ground war” of making disciples. As James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

YOUR ROLE IN THE STORY

Here’s the remarkable part: God is using your support to make these stories possible. Every time you pray, everY time you give—whether it’s used to provide audible Scripture devices or train local intercessors—you help the oppressed encounter Jesus’ love. You help sustain dedicated teams like J.B.’s, who risk everything to bring hope to the hardest places.

If you ever wonder whether prayer truly changes things, just picture the father who dared ask, “Can Jesus heal my son?”, and the witchdoctor who discovered God’s voice is mightier than any spell.

Hearts are being transformed. And through your partnership, it’s happening all around the world—one answered prayer at a time.

QUIET ON EARTH—THUNDERING IN HEAVEN

100,000 intercessors are waging a hidden war that’s changing everything

They gather at midnight when the world is still, or in cramped living rooms just before dawn. Day after day, the 100,000+ New Generations intercessors persist in what looks like an invisible battle—fasting for days on end, praying for communities they’ve never visited, and petitioning God to break through spiritual strongholds. Their prayers may be quiet on earth, but they are resonating like thunder in heaven. And God is using them to spark extraordinary change in places once considered too hard, too lost, or too dangerous for the Gospel.

And God is using them to spark extraordinary change in places once considered too hard, too lost, or too dangerous for the Gospel.

All around the world, this “quiet army” is on the move. In northern India, intercessors trek through remote mountain villages, praying over every home and leaving behind a covering that paves the way for new churches to flourish. In West Africa, teams of local believers spend long evenings in half-night prayer sessions, contending for neighbors oppressed by witchcraft and fear.

Time and again, we see that where persistent prayer goes first, doors swing open for Disciple Making Movements to begin—hearts soften, cultural barriers crumble, and Christ’s love transforms entire families.

Because we know “much prayer equals much power,” we come alongside these prayer warriors, equipping them with training, simple resources, and occasional travel funds so they can keep vigil in places we may never set foot.

Your own prayers and support become part of this collective effort, ensuring no intercessor stands alone. And as the prayers multiply, new stories of redemption keep unfolding—like the family in Sierra Leone who once lived in fear of persecution, now boldly sharing the Gospel in their community.

Their “hidden war” may be waged in remote huts or in the hush of early morning silence, but these 100,000 believers form the backbone of a mighty movement. They are the ones who spiritually prepare the ground, laying foundations of prayer long before anyone hears the Gospel message. On earth, the efforts of this quiet army may go unseen—but in heaven, their prayers echo like thunder, shaking strongholds and ushering in miraculous transformation.

“PRAYER IS OUR WAY OF LIFE”

By Shodankeh Johnson, Disciple Making Movement leader from Sierra Leone

My name is Shodankeh. I’m from Sierra Leone, where we say prayer must cover everything we do. Every morning, I’m awake by 3:30 or 4:00 to meet quietly with the Lord. By six, my family joins me—together we worship, read Scripture, and pray for everyone: our missionaries in far-off villages, new disciples, and those who still need to hear about Jesus.

We keep this rhythm going throughout the day. At midday, my team at work and I pause work for another session of prayer—asking God to guide our plans and protect believers facing persecution. At least once a month, we hold a half-night or full-night prayer. We might gather from eight in the evening until midnight, or sometimes straight through until six in the morning.

When a new year begins, we start with 21 days of prayer and fasting, trusting God for breakthroughs. I have seen people healed, communities changed, and entire regions opened to the Gospel—all because prayer is not just an event. It’s our way of life.

A LITTLE
EXTRA IN
YOUR ORDINARY

I often remind our team (and myself) that extraordinary prayer doesn’t require extraordinary people—it calls us to add just a little extra to our ordinary. Think of it like tithing your time. We freely give God the first portion of our earnings, right? Well, why not do the same with our day?

In many of the places where we work—like Sierra Leone or India—believers dedicate whole nights to prayer, or fast weekly for 21 days. But that didn’t start overnight. Most began with small steps: 5 minutes of focused prayer turning into 10, a single weekly fast becoming a monthly rhythm. Over time, those “little extras” created a movement.

Here’s my challenge to you: Look at what’s next on your calendar. Maybe it’s tomorrow morning’s staff meeting or coffee with a friend.

Could you dedicate the first minute of that meeting to inviting God’s presence and guidance? Could you start your day by taking a moment—before email, before to-do lists—to ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with wisdom and compassion?

Jesus said, “Apart from me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5). We believe Him. That’s why we’ve seen entire communities transform when average people commit to earnest prayer. In those simple moments—whether it’s 5 minutes or 50—God delights in showing up.

And who knows? The next big wave of Kingdom impact might start right where you are, with just a little extra in your ordinary.

A word from Harry: “GREATER THINGS” STILL LIE AHEAD

Dear Friend,

In the last 20 years, God has proven that Disciple Making Movements can work anywhere. Just look at what He’s done: 2.9 million new disciples and almost 158,000 churches in a wide variety of diversity of people and places.

This has happened as chain reactions of disciples making disciples in intersecting networks spread the Gospel far beyond their immediate reach—yet I believe the “greater things” Jesus promised in John 14:12 are still ahead.

Here’s what that means for us right now: We can’t rely on business as usual to see movements reach everywhere. We have to keep pressing more deeply into prayer. Because time and again, it’s been fervent, united prayer that broke through barriers in hostile places and opened doors where we thought none existed.

So today I’m challenging you to lean in deeper with us. Make prayer the cornerstone of your involvement—both personally and alongside our global family of 100,000 intercessors. The Holy Spirit continues to surprise us with impossible victories the moment we humble ourselves before Him.

Thank you for walking this journey. Together, as we choose the path of deeper prayer, we’ll watch Christ’s kingdom expand in places we once only dreamed of reaching.

Blessings,
