Advice from a Disciple Maker

Stories of Transformation

Prayer and fasting are a high-profile centerpiece of our ministry, but we did not start that way. We gradually came to embrace the practice—in fact, even before we embraced it, we had started doing a lot of praying and fasting. We went to seek the face of God. We were convicted that the right path was to bring prayer and fasting into every aspect and area of the ministry.

Gradually, as we continued to pray, we saw success. We heard remarkable testimonies. We lived with the people in whom God performed miracles—ordinary and common people, as well as people who are highly placed. We saw the hand of God and the moving of God. We were convinced in our hearts that this is what needed to be a major priority. And so eventually, we were able to become a Disciple Making Ministry.

I encourage you that this is something that will work. It is not something that is extraordinary. It is not rocket science. It is something that can work because prayer is a key theme in Scripture, critical in being followers of Jesus. Fasting is just as much a part of Scripture. So, we can begin, one step at a time—in other words, starting slow to end strong with victory.

That is what we did, and today we want to thank God that we obeyed the Lord, and we did it. I want to encourage you: you can obey the Lord and do it, too. Start small, and one day you will be sharing the same testimony. You will end strong
