In a region where nearly everyone follows Islam, one man began listening—and everything changed.
Samir* is a local leader coaching a small network of Jesus-followers. Most people around him are from a people group where almost 98 percent are Muslims. One of his closest neighbors is Hassan—a clan elder, the Imam at the local mosque, and nearly 90 years old.
Every evening, Samir hosts a small Discovery Bible Study (DBS) in his home. Using an Ending Scripture Poverty audio player loaded with God’s Word in the heart language of this people group, neighbors gather to listen, reflect, and obey.
Hassan noticed.
He heard the voices through the window. He saw people leaning in, listening in their own language, then talking about what they’d heard. One day, Hassan approached Samir and asked, “Can I have one of those players?”
He started listening alone. Then he came back with a quiet fire in his eyes.
“I need to share this with the other Imams,” he said.
Now, every Thursday night, Hassan leads a DBS of his own—with a group made up only of Imams.
God is moving in places we’d never expect, through people we’d never predict. And it’s happening because someone like Samir said yes—and started right where he was.
