If you’d looked at the map of this country in Central Asia a year ago, the picture was stark.
Nearly 98% of all churches were located in the capital city. Beyond it, there was almost nothing. Vast regions… major cities… and entire communities with little to no Gospel presence.
For years, ministry activity remained concentrated in one place. Faithful work was happening, but the reach was limited. The capital was growing. The rest of the country? It was largely untouched.
It would have been easy to accept that reality as fixed. Instead, something began to shift.
Over the past year, New Generations’ focused commitment to new territories and growing an existing sports movement have changed the landscape.
What once existed in a single location has now expanded to ten. That’s ten locations, in one year.
The number of leaders has grown fivefold. Missionary potential across the country has increased significantly. What once felt contained is now multiplying.
Six different sports clubs have launched, which have created natural gathering spaces for young people. Hundreds of teenagers now train regularly and hear stories from Scripture two to three times each week.
They aren’t just listening. They are memorizing these stories, discussing them, and sharing them with others. This year alone, 13 Discovery Bible Study groups have begun. Twenty people have been baptized!
In a country where the Gospel presence was once almost entirely confined to the capital, new expressions of church are taking root far beyond it. And one of the clearest pictures of this shift comes from two families.
After completing their training, these families moved to one of the least reached cities in the country, a place with almost no existing Christian presence.
They didn’t arrive with a large event or a public announcement. They arrived with simple Disciple Making Movement principles and a willingness to build relationships through sports.
Through practices and conversations, they connected with local people. They opened Scripture in small, natural settings. They listened. They asked questions. They invited others to do the same. And before long, the first house church in that city began meeting.
In just a few months, more than 300 people from another faith background have heard the Gospel. Three hundred people… in a place where almost no one had heard it before.
What is happening in Central Asia is the result of multiplication taking root. Leaders are being equipped. Families are going. Young people are engaging Scripture. Groups are forming. Churches are beginning.
The capital is no longer the boundary, and the story is still unfolding.
The team is now focused on further disciple and church multiplication strategies, trusting that what has begun beyond the capital will continue to spread.
In a nation where the odds once felt overwhelming, new territory is opening. And the Gospel is moving beyond where it used to stop.
