Beatrice is an unassuming, gentle seventy-seven-year-old businesswoman who loves God and people. She loves to meet new people and can frequently be heard talking about her love relationship with Jesus. She meets people everywhere she goes, whether at her professional association luncheons, the gym, or those staying at her Airbnb.
Beatrice has been sharing about Jesus for many years, but more recently began to understand our calling to make disciples. Previously when she shared about Jesus, she hoped they would find a church or someone else would mentor them. When she received Disciple Making Movement (DMM) coaching, she realized she was already qualified to make disciples.
Beatrice now invites people to encounter God in a Discovery Bible Study (DBS) group. She recently launched a group with ladies from her gym and has gathered groups from her many other associations. Beatrice shows everyone in her DBS groups how they can initiate new discovery groups with their friends and relatives.
When Beatrice’s friend, Joan, began following Jesus and wanted to be baptized, it took a little convincing for Beatrice to realize that she could perform the baptism, but then she became excited to learn that she would be able to baptize this person she had grown to love. Thirty-five of Joan’s friends and relatives, who knew little about God, heard her testimony as they attended her backyard baptism in a small kiddy blowup pool.
Joan went on to start three DBS groups with some who had come to her baptism, some friends she had met, and members of a sober living home. Many of Joan’s friends have become followers of Jesus, and their lives have changed. Beatrice is mentoring Joan, showing her how to grow in her love of Jesus, and teaching those in her discovery groups how to start discovery groups to make another generation of disciples.
Beatrice continues looking for ways to make more disciples and help the new disciples grow and make others.
