My name is Simon,* and I was brought up in a Muslim home. I used to perform my five daily prayers until early this year when I met with a church planter in my village, commonly called Brother John. He visited our home so often that he became a family friend.
I had always believed that the New Testament was not the word of God, just the Old Testament. On several occasions, Brother John shared a scripture with me that, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
However, this did not make much sense to me. I kept asking him questions pertaining to his faith as a follower of Christ. He shared with me about Jesus and his invitation to join his home fellowship failed several times. One day, I felt moved to join them in the home fellowship. After a week, I came back to the Discovery Bible Study (DBS) meeting with more curiosity. Though my attendance in the group was intermittent, the words I gathered gradually helped me understand that God loved me and had a remedy for my sins.
My love for the DBS increased as I discovered answers to questions I had about the Christian faith. I came forward with other new believers in Christ Jesus, and Brother John led me in a short prayer. I got baptized with 21 other members of the group. Today, I am a follower of Christ Jesus who is committed to making disciples in my community.
