In a rural Indian village known for farming and traditional religious practices, life is shaped by hard labor and deeply rooted beliefs. Many villagers work long hours and find themselves caught in cycles of superstition and anxiety, seeking peace in rituals and customs that have been passed down for generations.
This story begins with a Disciple Making Movement (DMM) practitioner named “Sam,” who felt called to bring hope to this community. One day, while purchasing bricks, Sam met “Joy,” a laborer who worked tirelessly at a brick-making factory. Despite her hard work, Joy returned home every evening exhausted and burdened. Her family remained unhappy, and she was overwhelmed by a lack of peace.
While talking with Joy, Sam noticed the heaviness in her heart. He gently told her, “God can bring peace to your family.” Surprised by his insight, Joy opened up to him about her struggles. They met a few more times, and soon, Joy invited Sam to her home to meet her family and share more about the peace he spoke of.
Sam began visiting Joy’s family weekly, and over time, he introduced them to a Discovery Bible Study (DBS). The family eagerly anticipated his visits, and as their interest grew, Sam encouraged Joy to lead the study herself.
As they studied Genesis 3, they realized their separation from God due to sin. In the following weeks, they explored John 3:16 and discovered that God’s love was the key to salvation through Jesus. Later, when they studied Acts 16, they recognized the importance of obeying God’s Word and decided to be baptized. Joy, her husband, and their two children made the decision to commit their lives to Jesus and were baptized together.
