Stories of Transformation

In a rural Indian village known for its farming and religious traditions, life was tough for many laborers. Superstition and ritual practices shaped daily routines, leaving little room for hope or change.

This is the story of how a Disciple Making Movement (DMM) practitioner brought light and transformation to one such community through a Discovery Bible Study (DBS).

Finding Hope in Unexpected Places
Deepa,* a hardworking woman at a brick-making company, struggled daily. Despite long hours of labor, her family life remained tense, and peace seemed out of reach.

One day, while Deepa was at work, a customer named Ramesh visited the brickyard. Ramesh, a Disciple Making Movement practitioner, noticed her weary expression and sensed her inner struggles. After making his purchase, he gently told Deepa, “God can give you peace and hope.”

Surprised by his words, she asked how he knew she was troubled. Encouraged by his kindness, she shared her burdens, pouring out her worries about her family and her life’s hardships.

A New Beginning
After meeting with Ramesh a few more times, Deepa invited him to her home to speak with her family. He began visiting weekly, introducing them to stories from the Bible. The family eagerly listened, finding comfort in the messages of love and hope.

As their interest grew, Ramesh encouraged Deepa to lead the weekly discussions herself. Together, they explored the Bible, discovering life-changing truths.

Discovering God’s Love
While studying Genesis 3, they realized humanity’s struggle with sin and separation from God. As they continued, they encountered John 3:16, learning that God’s love offers forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Reading Acts 16, they understood the importance of following God’s teachings through baptism. Moved by faith, Deepa, her husband Ravi, and their two children chose to be baptized, committing their lives to God.

Pray for Growth
Today, Deepa and her family continue leading their Discovery Bible Study, sharing what they’ve learned with neighbors. Pray that this group multiplies, bringing God’s love and hope to their entire community.
