Edi is a believer from Francophone Central Africa, and she’d always had a special place in her heart for deaf people. But how could she reach them? By taking sign language, of course! Edi became trained in sign language, and this helped her “speak” deaf people’s language and better understand their worldview.
After going through a Discovery Bible Study (DBS), Edi saw that it would be an incredible tool to make her ministry among her deaf friends even more fruitful. So Edi then trained her husband and their 14-year-old daughter to use sign language to start DBSs among deaf people!
Edi and her family have started 12 DBSs in the past 3 years with an average of eight members each. They also planted a church in the city that serves as the Equipping Center for Deaf Disciple Making Movement (DMM) practitioners. A second church is about to be planted in the city, and many more DBSs are springing up. People are “hearing” God’s Word because of Edi’s passion!
Edi recently shared that her dream is to catalyze a movement among deaf people in every major city of Cameroon, with the hope that these will equip Disciple Making Movements catalysts across the country. Her team is also working on a DBS video clip in sign language for deaf people.
Edi’s story proves that God can use ordinary people to do the extraordinary when they are empowered by His Spirit and supported by his people—people like you! Thank you for your continued gifts and prayers, which God uses to help so many deaf people across Africa “hear” Him.
